Lip lift surgery, known as lip lift aesthetics, is the process of narrowing the distance between the nose and lips. The ideal length of the lip-nose distance varies between 12-15 mm. The distance between the upper lip and nose may be structurally long, and this distance may increase due to aging. In these people, the upper lip appears small, and the teeth are not visible when smiling. Especially in female patients, the most important complaint is that the lip is ambiguous despite wearing lipstick. The lip lift process especially increases the prominence of the middle 1/3 part of the upper lip, which we call the eros bow. It provides a more attractive and prominent lip appearance.

Who is Lip Lift Applied to?

Lip lift procedure is applied to patient groups whose upper lip-nose distance is over 17 mm. However, it can also be applied to patients who complain of insufficient visibility of the teeth while laughing.

What is done before the operation?

The most important point before surgery is to evaluate the patient in detail and to understand their expectations. With the examination, the problems are revealed and the action to be taken is decided in order to get the best solution in line with these problems. In line with the intervention to be performed, the procedure is performed under local anesthesia.

What Awaits You During the Surgery Process

Lip lift is a procedure that takes approximately 45 minutes, mostly accompanied by local anesthesia. Drawings are made according to the new lip size planned before the surgery. The shortening process is done in such a way that our scar remains at the nose-lip junction. Excess skin and partial muscle tissue are removed. In order to prevent the lip from drooping again, the lip is hung on the base of the nose. No hospitalization is required after the procedure. In order to reduce the edema that will occur, cold application is applied especially in the first two days. Depending on the edema, patients may have difficulty connecting their lips for the first 2-3 days and may feel like toothy. Edema in the early period disappears in 5-7 days and these complaints are resolved. It takes 3-4 weeks for the lip to return to normal.

Lip Filling and Lip Lift (Lip lift)

Many patients who complain of small upper lip have lip augmentation to correct this situation. With lip augmentation performed in patients with a long upper lip-nose distance, the lower half of the face appears larger than the other parts of the face. Because the filling made not only enlarges the lip, but also increases the already long nose-lip distance. In addition, the visibility of the teeth during smiling is further reduced. For this reason, in this group of patients, a suitable upper lip-nose distance is created primarily by lip lift. Then, in the 1st month after the procedure, filling is done to add volume to the lips.
